Join us on Wednesday, May 5th, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Room 428 Dirksen Senate Office building (Senate H.E.L.P. Committee Hearing Room) for an important briefing and roundtable discussion hosted by Qualcomm and the American Telemedicine Association regarding Policy, Technology and Research Developments in Mobile Health”.

A large part of healthcare spending is accounted by the delivery of care.  Today, innovative digital wireless communications technologies are enabling products and services that have become a key component in the delivery of health services and the provision of care in the US.

Medical devices, health sensors and their applications are increasingly relying on wireless broadband functionality and interoperability to transmit raw data, diagnostic health information, critical aspects of care, emergency services and personalized information.  These services are at the forefront of a revolution in the provision and delivery of healthcare in America; a revolution which collapses time and space and distance to more effectively monitor patients, develop analytical trends and save lives while maximizing efficiency and keeping down costs.

More and more devices utilize broadband technologies over mobile wide area networks or wireless local area networks to seamlessly provide important patient information to healthcare professionals, clinicians or loved ones, at fractional costs and in secure real-time usable formats.

This roundtable discussion will feature a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss policy, technology and research developments in the growing area of mobile health in America.
