On January 27th, speakers discussed proposed and interim final rules related to implementation of the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive program defining ”meaningful use” along with the criteria that eligible providers and hospitals must use in order to qualify. Presenters provided an understanding of the opportunities and challenges they face across a range of healthcare organizations. A second panel program scheduled for February 25th from 12:00-1:45 p.m. in the House Science and Technology Hearing Room, Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2325, will discuss the status of state assistance efforts, regional extension centers, and HIT workforce development plans.
